Ralph Gehre

(Ralph Tadeu Gehre) was born in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, in 1952. He has lived in Brasília since 1962, where he studied drawing and fine arts, as well as architecture and urban planning, at the University of Brasília (1972-1980).

He started developing as a visual artist in 1980, creating figurative paintings, such as unidentified landscapes. Throughout his career, he expanded his
experimentation into the field of abstraction, also producing drawings, photographs, and collages.

His research focuses on the relationships between the materiality of painting and composition, highlighting the process of reading the image. In his works, he uses letters and
words, sometimes as symbols, sometimes as poetic experiences, discussing themes from art history itself.

He was nominated for the 2020 PIPA Award. He is represented in Brazil by Andrea Rehder arte contemporânea  SP and by INDEX Arte DF, occupying the gallery’s residency workshop since May 2024.

He is represented abroad at international fairs by Ana Victória Borga VAG Galeria.
