The Voo series draws inspiration from Alfredo Volpi’s paintings titled “Ogivas,” using their pictorial structure as a starting point to unfold them in space.

In these paintings by Volpi, created beginning in the 1970s, the repetition and variation of triangular forms create visual tension; in the Voo series, these relationships shift from the two-dimensional plane to a three-dimensional experience.

Each work in the series consists of three two-dimensional metal elements, in two or three colors, arranged to create a spatial configuration in which two pieces are mounted on the wall and a third is suspended between them, in a transverse position. Alternatively, the three pieces may be suspended around a single axis.

The alternating triangular cutouts across the different sections create a system of correspondences and dissonances that is activated as the viewer moves. The work is not revealed from a single vantage point, but is constructed through movement, through the continuous interplay between viewing and repositioning oneself.
